What Do You Do With An Idea?

What Do You Do With An Idea is an interesting book written by Kobi Yamada and Illustrated by Mae Besom. The book is about a boy who has an idea and at first, he didn’t like the idea and pretended it wasn’t his but it made him feel happy and cared about when he was close to it. So he decided to care for it and feed it or give it attention even though people didn’t believe the idea he liked it. Eventually one day he was with the idea and it suddenly sprouted wings and flew into the air and his idea was spread out across the world. In my opinion, I thought that this book was very interesting and had a good story to it. I think that the moral of the story was to always keep your idea’s or remember them and even write them down because one day they might to take flight and surprise others. All in all, I thought that this book had really amazing pictures to go with a really amazing story and I hope we read something from that author again.

Alfred Nobel, The man behind The peace prize

Alfred Nobel, The man Behind The peace prize is a book written by Kathy-jo Wargin and illustrated by Zachary Pullen. This book is about the man who invented the peace prize, it starts off with him making an explosive liquid with a thought that it would be useful to the mining industry or military. Sadly, it ended up not being used for either of those. With help from his brothers and his dad, he managed to make a substance that could be ignited by gunpowder. He and his brothers began selling this to their homeland (Sweden).  They called this substance blasting oil. Eventually, orders started coming from all places looking for this substance. Luckily, as he hoped, people started using it for building rivers, destroying bridges and other good uses. When he was getting older, his brothers were testing the blasting powder when their lab exploded. They both died. The newspaper thought that one of the brothers was Alfred so everyone thought he was dead. When he really died he put the rest of his money towards a prize that could be achieved by making a significant peaceful action. In my opinion, this book was meant for 10-14-year-olds. I think that this was more of a teaching book than a funny book, but I also think that it told a good history of an interesting person. All in all, I think that this book was more a book about history than an exciting book but I still liked it a fair amount.

Enemy pie

Enemy Pie is an amazing children’s picture book by Derek Munson and Tara Calahan King. It’s about a boy who just had his enemy move into his neighbourhood and tells his dad to make an enemy pie. The final ingredient is that he need was to spend a day with the victim, so after spending a day he realized that he wasn’t so bad and he begged the dad to not give him enemy but then it wasn’t bad at all and he realized that the pie made your enemies your friends. In my opinion, I think enemy pie is a good kids book that’s balanced with learning/morals and funny and interesting pictures. I think that this book was cool and it was also one of my favourite books we’ve read I hope we read something from this author again.

Spoon

Spoon is a fun and relatable book written by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and illustrated by Scott Magoon. Spoon is about a spoon who feels like he is worse than all the other dinner utensils so he gets down. Eventually, he realized that he could do lots of stuff that the other utensils couldn’t so he was happy in the end. I thought this was a good book for kids between 5 and 10 years old because its words are minimal but it does have jokes that you might have to be a bit older to understand. All in all, I really liked the humour and cute pictures in this book, I am rating this book four out of five stars what would you rate it.

Chopsticks

Chopsticks is a funny children’s book by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and illustrated by Scott Magoon. Chopsticks is a book about two Chopsticks who love practicing tricks together then they decided to try a new trick but when they’re doing it one of the chopsticks breaks the end of his stick and got sent to the hospital. The other chopstick didn’t want to leave his side so he stayed with him but eventually, the injured chopstick told him to go on his own so he did and he learned how to do tricks by his self then the other one got better and they could do more tricks because they knew how to walk on their own. In my opinion, Chopsticks is funny and an exciting book with fun pictures. I would rate this 4 out of 5 stars because it doesn’t’ seem to have an age limit and is gender neutral book. I really enjoyed this book and I hope we read something like this again.

I Used To Be A Fish

I Used To Be A Fish is a great picture book about evolution wrote and illustrated by Tom Sullivan. I Used To Be A Fish is about a fish who doesn’t want to be a fish so he grows legs and starts living on land then after time goes by he starts to have more feature and does more things at the end of the book he becomes civilized and then learns how to fly but in the very end he was just a kid imaging. In my opinion, I Used To Be A Fish is a good book with the right amount of learning and fun pictures even if the learning wasn’t really how evolution works it was still a good book. This book was probably one of my favourites I think it would be fun to read something like this again.

Bat’s big game

Bats big game was made by Margaret Read MacDonald and illustrated by Eugenia Nobati. This book is about a bat that is playing in a soccer game but the thing is he always wants to win so the game starts off and he joins the animal team. Then the bird’s team starts beating them so he hides his jersey in a bush and asks the bird team if he can join them because he has wings. Eventually, both teams realize that he keeps switching teams and tell him he can’t play because of cheating to switch teams. I thought that it was a very good book with A good moral I liked that the bat learned his lesson and the next game he played he wouldn’t switch teams again. Bats big game was a really good picture book and I hope we read something like it again.

The Sweetest Fig

The sweetest fig is a most peculiar book by Chris Van Allsburg about a man called Monsieur Bibot, he is a dentist who had just fixed a lady’s tooth an instead of paying him she gave him two magic figs that made him do whatever dreamed of that night but the dentist didn’t care he threw the lady out. In the end of the book his dog who he’d been really harsh to had eaten the last fig and made himself and the dentist and the dentist got turned into the dog. I thought this book was quite astonishing by the creativity of the author and I thought it was unique in how all the characters had different traits. In conclusion I really enjoyed this book and I hope that I get to read something like this again.

Stolen Words

Stolen words is a amazing picture  book written by Melanie Florence  and illustrated by Gabrielle Grimard. This story was about a girl who had just made a dream catcher at school and now was walking home with her grandpa. She asked him what granddaughter was in Cree so he told her about residential school and how they took the words of Cree away from him. So she felt bad for him and gave him a dream catcher. The next day she asked the librarian for a manual about Cree so when she walked back from school with her grandpa she gave him the book and then it ended with him saying nôsisim is granddaughter. I thought that  this book was extremely heartwarming because the little girl probably made his day and I also felt bad because the grandpa didn’t get to spend time with his family and had his culture taken away. Overall this  story was very nice and had a happy ending

Hey, Little Ant

Today in class we read a wonderful picture book called hey lil ant it was made by Phillip and Hannah hoose the illustrations were by Debbie Tilley. This type of the book was a child’s picture book but it was surprisingly good. In my opinion it was a very interesting book with a good moral that was everything from small to big had a life and you shouldn’t take it away from them. The book was about a boy who was about to step on a ant but then talked to him about his family and why he shouldn’t squish him so he decided not to squish him.
